According to the World Health Organisation, women in Bangladesh are 21 times more likely to die from maternal causes than women in the UK. 🤍

That statistic isn’t just a number - it represents mothers, families, and futures at risk.

I chose to work with Maa because of the way they approach this issue: with dignity, sustainability, and real impact. Maa is a grassroots charity dedicated to improving maternal healthcare in resource-poor areas by promoting safe, effective, and high-quality maternity services. Their work isn’t short-term or surface-level - it’s about building lasting change.

Maa works closely with local universities, healthcare professionals, and medical students in Bangladesh to strengthen maternal care systems, particularly in rural communities where access to healthcare is extremely limited.

Through JourneyMaa 2026, I’ll be travelling to Bangladesh to:

🩺 Deliver educational workshops for mothers and local communities on maternal health and safe childbirth

🏥 Observe and support the life-saving work carried out at Maa’s Maternal Health Clinics

🌍 Gain insight into healthcare delivery in low-resource urban and rural settings, while supporting those who need it most

I wanted to be part of JourneyMaa because I believe every mother deserves access to safe care, regardless of where she lives. This opportunity allows me to contribute directly, learn responsibly, and support work that truly puts mothers first.

All funds raised will go directly towards supporting Maa Healthcamps taking place as part of JourneyMaa 2026 - helping provide essential care, education, and dignity to mothers who need it most.
