For Ruky - And For Everyone Lost Too Soon
Ruky lived her life with a fire that everyone around her felt. Family came first, always. Her loyalty was absolute, her love fierce, and her presence impossible to forget. She poured that same energy into her work, becoming a driving instructor who was loved and admired by her students.
Even the simplest moments became memorable in her presence. She was bold, funny, stylish and wonderfully herself. Her love extended to chocolate, horror films, puzzles, straight gin and anything to do with fashion.
In August 2025, after months of feeling unwell and being told she was simply anaemic, Ruky was finally diagnosed with ovarian cancer. By then, it was already advanced. She fought with strength and stubbornness through five rounds of chemotherapy, followed by a de-bulking hysterectomy; however, the disease had progressed too far. She passed away at just 52.
We, her family, are creating this page in her honour and memory. But not only this, we are creating it for every family who has faced the same devastating reality. Too many people are misdiagnosed. Too many symptoms are dismissed. Too many lives are cut short.
By raising awareness and supporting critical screening research, we hope fewer families will have to experience this heartbreak.
To Ruky, the Mom/Wife/Daughter/Sister/Mami/Masi/Niece/Nani/Bibi we adore and love you always
