Shonagh and Willie's fundraiser for Sarcoma UK

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
At the start of 2024, Shonagh's husband Andrew was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer called a chondrosarcoma. This is incredibly difficult to diagnose and even harder to treat.
Andrew underwent extensive limb (and life) saving surgery which replaced much of the bone in his left arm with a metal prosthetic. Over the coming years, Andrew will be closely and regularly monitored by the fantastic team at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
While Andrew has made a full recovery, and is getting used to a new life of setting off airport security scanners, very little is known about the cause, treatments and outcomes for Sarcoma diagnoses. For many, their story ends very differently from Andrew's.
During the dark and uncertain weeks following Andrew's diagnosis, Sarcoma UK provided much needed advice and support to our family - and now we want to give back.
Shonagh's dad, Willie, will be running the London marathon on Sunday 27th April, and Shonagh will be running the Edinburgh marathon on Sunday 25th May. They are fundraising together, with the aim of raising as much as possible for a cause so close to our hearts.
Any donation for Sarcoma UK would be hugely appreciated so that families like ours can continue to receive much needed support, and so that more research can be done to save more lives of those diagnosed.
Thank you for your support, and wish us luck!
