Story
WE DID IT! And we ran the whole 13.1 miles! It was an amazing day and so well organised. The route was beautifully scenic and the crowds fantastic. A huge THANK YOU to our friends, family and colleagues for your generous donations, we could not have done this without your support.
On the 12 April 2026, Fiona and Dawn will be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon (yes… a whole 13.1 miles!) in support of the incredible Martlets Hospice in Brighton & Hove. This is a combined fundraising page for Fiona & Dawn.
Our amazing mum / mum-in-law volunteered for Martlets for 25 years, alongside working and raising her family. When she was diagnosed with cancer, the Martlets team supported her and us as a family from the very beginning, providing care and guidance while she was at home and then looking after her in the hospice during her final weeks. During that time, we experienced first-hand the kindness, compassion and dignity they show to every patient and family. The support they gave our mum, and all of us, meant more than we can ever fully express and is something we will never forget.
So this run is for mum. She was truly one of a kind, and she is missed every single day. We’re pretty sure she’d find the idea of us voluntarily running 13.1 miles quite amusing!
Martlets is a charity, and the work they do supporting people with terminal illness and their families is extraordinary. We want to raise as much as possible to help ensure other families can receive the same care and support that meant so much to us.
If you’re able to donate, thank you so much. Every pound really does make a difference. We have both covered our race entry fee so every penny raised does go to the Martlets!
We’re also incredibly grateful that Fiona’s employer, William Reed, has agreed to match fund her sponsorship, meaning your donations will have double the impact for Martlets.
