Story
In collaboration with ReSurge Africa, a group of anaesthetists from Glasgow are returning to the Centre for Burns and Reconstructive Surgery in Khorle-Bu, Ghana in February 2025.
We will be working with local medical and nursing staff to continue our anaesthesia, resuscitation and acute care training programmes, and collaborating with surgical teams to support life changing and life saving reconstructive operations for patients from around Ghana.
The units in Glasgow and Khorle-Bu have had a longstanding relationship and the charity ReSurge Africa has been a huge driving force behind this work for many years. The charity sponsors staff from around West Africa to complete advanced training in plastic surgery, anaesthesia and related nursing disciplines and they have supported international teams to collaborate in highly complex successful surgical procedures in the region. They have also funded a number of training courses in burns and reconstructive surgery care.
The money raised in this campaign will help to support the staff visiting Ghana and to fund the training materials necessary to ensure a successful trip and a lasting impact for the staff and patients with whom we are working.
