Run the 501* for Mental Health · 28 April 2024

We’re Mind, the mental health charity, working across England & Wales. We believe no one should face a mental health problem alone. We’re here for you. Whether you’re stressed, depressed or in crisis. We’ll listen, give support & advice, & fight your corner. Thanks for fundraising for national Mind.

Story

The Alderman Smith Old balls cricket are running the 501 runs scored by Brian Lara completely kitted out in cricket batting gear. This equates to 10km in full batting kit.

This will be no mean feat as we have players in their 40s, 50s 60s and even 70s. All looking to hit that 10k mark, so please support Mind and our club as we look to complete this challenge.

Three times as many men as women die by suicide · Men aged 40 to 49 have the highest suicide rates in the UK. Men don't talk or seek help.

In 1994 whilst playing for Warwickshire Brian Lara scored 501 runs not out. Thats 10km in single runs. At times we are all just trying to keep batting on.

The Old Balls team members are predominantly in the high risk age category. So to support Mind and the great work they do, and to support the club to continue to provide a supportive outlet we are going to run the 501* runs for charity. 10km with full Cricket Batting Kit on !

A Charity and Team fundraiser with 50% of all funds raised going to the Mind Charity (a registered charity in England (no. 219830) ) and 50% to the Old Balls CC to support our work within the sporting community.
