Story
I’m running the Edinburgh Marathon to support refugee integration in Scotland—because now, more than ever, upholding dignity and human rights for all matters.
Influenced by an international upbringing that required considerable linguistic and cultural adapting, I gravitated toward a career in international development advocacy, supporting refugees and promoting global access to education. However, since arriving in Scotland less than two years ago, this cause has become even more personal. I joined a volunteer community sponsorship group helping a family resettle locally, and through that, I've witnessed firsthand both the challenges and the resilience of those rebuilding their lives. Having navigated the complex UK immigration system myself, I understand how complex and overwhelming it can be—and I know that refugee families face much greater hurdles and hardships.
That’s why I’m fundraising for the Scottish Refugee Council, Scotland's national refugee charity, with a mission of building a society in which all people are protected, find safety, have their human rights and dignity respected, and can achieve their full potential.
Every donation, no matter the size, helps provide vital services and advocacy for those seeking refuge.
➜ £5 provides a hot meal or a basic hygiene pack for a newly arrived refugee seeking sanctuary in Scotland after fleeing a horrific situation in their country.
➜ £50 could cover travel expenses for a group of refugee women to attend employment or education workshops offered by the SRC, assisting them in rebuilding their lives.
➜ £100 will help a new refugee to convert their professional qualifications to meet UK requirements, gain knowledge about the labour market, and recruitment process and purchase basic formal clothing for interviews.
Join me in standing with refugees—because everyone deserves a place to call home! 🏠
Thank you so much in advance! 💜
