Story
On the 12th of April 2026, my partner Marc and I will be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon in memory of my beautiful cousin Aara, who passed away at just 14 years of age after bravely fighting osteosarcoma.
Aara was one of those people who could make everyone around her laugh with her sharp sarcasm and at the same time light up every room she walked into with her big heart and the incredible strength she carried within her. She was stronger than anyone her age should ever have to be - a strength she never stopped showing, even on her hardest days.
One of my favourite memories with Aara is the last evening we spent together, playing Carrom board just like we had done for years. We were laughing, teasing each other about every move and forgot everything for that moment. She gave me one last smile I will carry with me forever, one etched with love and strength.
Everyone who had the honour of knowing Aara carries a piece of her within them, her courage, her kindness and her incredible spirit. She touched peoples' hearts by just being herself. Her time with us was far too short, but she will never be forgotten.
We are running for her and every child and family affected by bone cancer. All donations will go to the Bone Cancer Research Trust, helping fund vital research, support patients and their families facing this devastating disease and bring hope to those who need it the most.
If you're able to donate, no matter the amount, it would mean the world to us and would help honour Aara's memory and support every child and adult who faces this battle against bone cancer.
Thank you for reading, for supporting, for remembering Aara with us and keeping her spirit alive.
