Story
In November 2021, best pal Matt was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (T-Cell).
Only 800 people a year are diagnosed with ALL in the UK, and the overwhelming majority are either children or senior citizens.
Matt's been on quite a journey, having initially responded well to chemotherapy only for the leukaemia to reappear in his central nervous system in March, some 15 months into his treatment.
He's since undergone a stem cell transplant and has been recovering from the procedure for most of the summer. The early prognosis following the transplant is looking positive, though Matt has also had to fight off a bout of Graft vs Host Disease to add to the symptoms!
Since his diagnosis, Blood Cancer UK have provided invaluable support and information to Matt about his condition and how to manage it, as well as to his family and friends about what to expect and how to support him. Not only do they provide counsel and support to patients with blood cancers like ALL, Acute Myeloid Leukaemia and others, but they provide vital funding into the research around blood cancer and its treatment.
As a result of this, Franck has signed up to run the Royal Parks Half Marathon on 8th October to run 13.1 miles through the heart of London and raise money for this incredible cause.
Every pound that goes to Blood Cancer UK will directly help their efforts to support people like Matt and to ensure that blood cancer survival rates continue to improve.
