Story
Only 4.8% of people with a learning disability in England are currently in employment. Many young adults who have a learning disability, are autistic, or both face significant challenges to finding real work experience and careers they enjoy.
We think this is wrong, everyone who wants to work should be able to.
Through our supported internships young adults build vital employment and social skills in a real work environment. Over the course of an academic year they are immersed in different job placements that stretch their skills and help them choose a career that is right for them. On average 63% of our graduates find employment which is a fantastic achievement.
DFN Project SEARCH supported internships can currently only reach around 1 in 22 young adults who are eligible for one. We need your help to raise money and awareness of supported internships and the life-changing impact they can have for young adults who have a learning disability, are autistic, or both.
