Story
I’m running in the footsteps of legends as I take on the Original Marathon. This race honours the first official 26.2 mile distance, inspired by the dramatic 1908 London Olympic marathon from Windsor Castle to The White City Stadium.
In that OG Olympic marathon, Dorando Pietri stormed ahead in the lead, but then took a wrong turn, collapsed five times, and got scooped up by officials and yeeted over the finish line. He was disqualified for goofing it up big time, but the Queen felt so sorry for him she gave him a special cup for sheer effort.
Given my track record and this being my first ever marathon, I will probably end up like our man Dorando; vomit optional, dignity questionable. I'm hoping for some kind of wooden spoon for taking part, but really, I'll take the soul-crushing mileage for a small donation from you
I’m running this marathon to support people living with Spinal Cord Injury. Every two hours someone is paralysed by SCI and there is still no cure. Your donation helps people regain independence, rebuild their lives, and access vital support.
Thank you for giving whatever you can.
