Story
We’re teaming up to raise money for Safenet!
Our team is made up of Paris from Safenet, along with Magda and Emma from Media and Comms. Together, we’ll be running 100 official race miles, taking on a range of running challenges to raise funds and awareness for Safenet domestic abuse services.
Each of us will be taking on a variety of races throughout the year, before running the Manchester Half Marathon as a team in October to finish off the challenge in style.
Why we’re running for Safenet
Domestic abuse affects many people regardless of age, gender, financial status, location, religion or sexuality. It’s estimated that 1 in 5 adults experience domestic abuse in their lifetime, equating to 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6-7 men… and this is only what’s reported.
Domestic abuse comes in many forms such as physical, sexual, emotional, financial, stalking and harassment, controlling and coercive behaviour and in some cases can also lead to homicide. Because of this, it’s so important that services like Safenet exist so they can provide a safe place to stay if needed, along with support, guidance and practical help to create a safer, happier and healthier future for anyone affected by domestic abuse.
Your money will go a long way in making sure that Safenet can continue their great work. Safenet offer inclusive, non-judgemental and respectful services to women, children and men and we are part of DASSL (Domestic Abuse Support Service Lancashire).
