Story
My name is Dani and I’m running my very first half marathon to raise money for the RVC Animal Care Trust, a cause that is incredibly close to my heart.
I work as a vet nurse assistant, and caring for animals has always been a huge part of who I am. From a young age I’ve loved animals, and that love has only grown through my work and through having pets of my own. I’ve been lucky enough to share my life with two wonderful cats, Ziggy and Marley, who mean the world to me.
Sadly, on 10th December 2025, I lost Ziggy at just three years old following a hit and run. He was taken far too soon, and losing him has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever gone through. I still have his brother Marley, who I love dearly, and who reminds me every day why animals deserve the very best care, protection and compassion.
This half marathon is about more than just running. It’s a personal fitness challenge, a way to support animals in a different way to my day-to-day work, and most importantly, it’s being run in memory of Ziggy. His loss has reminded me how short and precious life is, and how important it is to make the most of every day and do good wherever we can.
By fundraising for the RVC Animal Care Trust, I hope to help support animals and the people who care for them when they need it most. Every donation, no matter how small, will help make a real difference.
Thank you so much for reading, for supporting me, and for helping me turn something painful into something positive — for Ziggy, for Marley, and for animals everywhere 🐾💙
