Story
Running for Asher!
Asher is our friend’s son, and he was born with a rare heart condition, Truncus Arteriosus, which went undetected at birth. At just 11 weeks of age, he was rushed to hospital in a critical condition and has been on an intense medical journey involving major heart surgeries, ventilator and ECMO support, multiple ICU stays, and complications including Covid, respiratory conditions, sepsis, and a stroke.
‘Asher the Smasher’ got through all of this and is home, being cared for full-time by his awesome mum Sian. He needs ongoing, intensive private rehabilitation including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and other equipment not covered by the NHS.

Gemma ran the Wirral 10km and Beth ran the Oulton Park 10km. We both did the Chester Half Marathon. Next, Beth will be running the Chester Metric Marathon (the furthest distance I've ever ran!). We are doing this for Asher but also for Sian, whose resilience, positivity and dedication never fails to amaze us.
Asher finds it hilarious when people fall over so it seems fitting that we’ll very likely be falling over the finish lines!
We know that times are tough but every little helps and will make a big difference to Asher.
Thank you,
Beth (and Gemma, who I'm going to try and convince to run the Metric with me!) x
