Story
Over the past few years I’ve lost family, work colleagues and recently a very close friend to cancer.
Darren was one of my closest friends. He was an absolute great person and would do anything for his friends (he saved me more than once during major car troubles that meant going massively out of his way!). He was kind, fun, amazingly smart, creative, trustworthy, patient and most of all just a throughly decent bloke. Darren played a big role in lots of people’s lives, he was a great friend and even better dad to his four lovely children and a devoted husband to his brilliant wife.
I’ve decided to run Brighton marathon, on April 12th 2026, to try and raise a tiny bit of money to support the cancer charity that cared for Darren and his family so well during his illness. I know it’s just a drop in the ocean and means very little in reality but it’s my way of remembering and honouring my old friend and trying to raise some money for a charity I know he rated and found incredibly helpful (Darren told it like it was so it feels like a good cause to raise money for a charity he considered important and was very positive about during his last year).
I know everyone is tight for money these days and that’s one of the reason which put me off doing this…but I decided to go for it and hope I can raise even a tiny bit of money to support other people and families that will unfortunately find themselves in similar situations. If you can donate any small amount of money for this cause I’d be really grateful but if not - no problem.
Thanks for reading this and for any donation you may be able to make .
