Story
On the 24th May I will be running 42.2km in honour of my Grumpa George who we lost on 20th December 2024.
I will be fundraising for The Beatson Cancer Charity who provided support and treatment for my Grumpa.
In 2014 George was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and after the cancer was removed he visited the Beatson for annual check ups. During one of these check ups, around 2015, a rouge cancer cell was detected and he was offered the opportunity to take part in a cancer drug trial.
During this trial he received check ups every 3 months which included Bone scans. His doctor, Dr Balaji Venugopal was spoken about so fondly by George and my Gran, Marie, for all his time, patience and care.
After nearly a decade on the trial the Beatson discovered nodules on his lung and this meant the cancer had spread. After it was confirmed that it had spread we were told that he had been receiving the cancer drug and not a placebo. The Beatson allowed my Grumpa to be around to see His Great-Grandaughter Amara join our Family, have many happy Birthdays, Holidays and celebrations and I cannot thank their hard work enough.
I would appreciate any donation to help support the efforts of the Beatson and all proceeds go directly to them
