Story
It’s the 9th Jan and 2 years ago today at 26 years old, I sustained a serious neck injury that unfortunately ended my professional rugby career. It was an extremely weird time for me.
I had no idea what my future was going to look like, no idea what my thoughts and feelings truly were about the situation. I was battling my mind to understand if this was fair to have happened to me and of course.. I never spoke about it.
I threw myself into my business and did whatever I could to demonstrate resilience, grow my business and brand as quickly as I could: ‘Keeping myself busy’. I thought this was right..
9 months later, I had a mental breakdown. I lost my way and became self destructive. My body was there, but my soul wasn’t.
So, why the post?
I am now 28, still obsessed with business and working hard but that does not outweigh being the best partner and father I can be. I want to achieve far more for my daughter but also for myself.
Throughout 2023, I will be running every day and raising money for Swansea Mind, a local organisation doing amazing work for individuals who need help and guidance with their mental health and well-being.
I will be vlogging the process, connecting all runs on Strava and talking about mental health and well-being with a variety of different people along the way.
I am committing to the Swansea Half Marathon, the Mumbles Centurion and the Darth in 2023. I will be walking Cadair Idris, Snowdon and Pen Y Fan in a single day. I will be working closely with individuals on the benefits of cold water therapies and completing mini challenges each month.
The below link and in my DM will be used to raise donations throughout this process.
If you would like to get involved in any of the above, or have further ideas for even more challenges, please get in touch.
Thank you 👊🏻
Scott.
