My dad died so now I have to run a marathon

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
On 28 September 2018, my lovely dad, Matthew Baynes, died at St Richard's Hospice. He had been living with cancer for 18 months and I miss him every single day.
The hospice gave my family a place of peace in his final days, where we could focus on just being with him.
So, on Sunday 27th April, I will be taking to the streets of London for the TCS London Marathon to say thank you to them and repay their kindness.
I'm not a runner by any stretch of the imagination - I'm more likely to be seen running to the fridge - so this is going to be the hardest challenge I have ever set myself. Twenty six (point two) flipping miles. What was I thinking.
Dad was my biggest supporter but even he would think this is vaguely ridiculous.
The only thing that will get me round is raising funds for St Richard's Hospice so they can continue to provide their free care and services to patients and family members in Worcestershire, helping families like mine every single day.
Less than a quarter of their work is funded by the NHS, and they rely heavily on the generosity of donations.
Thank you for helping me reach my target.
