Last year after battling, Penelope was diagnosed with DDH, developmental hip dysplasia. She has been treated at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital under an amazing orthopaedic team led by Mr Talbot. On August 20th 2024, she underwent an open reduction, pelvic osteotomy with spica cast for 8 weeks before re-admission for removal to begin extensive rehab as an inpatient with the physios and hydrotherapy team to help learn how to walk again. Alderhey’s therapy team were the BEST!! Penelope has multiple admissions for inpatient therapy for rehabilitation and to help her get back doing what she loves!! Penelope has worked so hard, she’s such a resilient, determined little lady, and we are so proud of her!! We cannot thank Alder Hey Children’s Hospital enough!!

We have decided as a family and with our amazing friends to start fundraising to help raise funds for Alder Hey to hopefully help support the orthopaedic teams help support other children and families who are dealing with DDH.
