Story
I've just taken another trip around the sun and spent my birthday running a 10km mud run. Fast forward a couple of weeks, and it's time for my first London run. Last year, when I had my crash, I thought I might be ready to run this one in February, but I was clearly being naive about my recovery! Today, I'm still not fully recovered but have been cleared for a gentle run where I will do what I can, taking it easy but finishing the run alongside thousands of other amazing people.
The Winter Run is for cancer research, and you may notice this page is actually for Windsor Street Angels. We recently lost one of our rough sleepers to cancer, and supporting him on the streets until he could no longer be out there really brought home how cancer doesn't discriminate. People face this horror head-on, with pride and dignity. Every two weeks, I give up my Friday nights to walk the streets and help those who need it—homeless, lost, scared, injured, drunk or just lonely.
The money raised from this run will help Windsor Street Angels continue their vital work. We don't have any paid staff; every penny goes directly to our kit and our rent. My target is £200 to support this cause that means so much to me.
