Running 10K for FAB!

Sophie Collier-Hall is raising money for Friends of Bettridge School

Gloucester 10k · 29 June 2025 ·

Bettridge School is unique within the maintained sector as a setting for children and young people who have severe and complex learning difficulties. We cater for students aged 2 to 19 as a day place setting. We have a large site and well planned environment for our learners, including a swimming pool, sensory room and soft play centre. A large staff team provides specialist teaching, therapies and pastoral care to an exceptionally high standard.

Story

Hello everyone,

On 29th June, I will be running the Gloucester 10K to fundraise for Friends at Bettridge (FAB). 10K is equivalent to 6.2 miles and will be the furthest I have run! Any donations will be hugely appreciated and, of course, will help to keep my motivations up for this event.

FAB raises funds for the benefit of young people who attend Bettridge School - a community special school based in Cheltenham. Most pupils at Bettridge have severe or profound learning difficulties. I am fortunate enough to work at this fantastic school and to work with the wonderful pupils who attend Bettridge.

FAB funding helps to provide experiences, equipment, or opportunities for the young people at Bettridge. This includes some annual events (e.g. Prom, end-of-year trips, celebrations for student leavers), as well as unique resources. Recently, FAB have launched the 'Sharing Shed' - a purpose-built shed filled with goods that can be shared amongst the Bettridge Community free of charge, including uniform, food, toys, and books. This also provides work experience opportunities for some of our post-16 students!

In future, FAB would like to use raised funds to support the experience had by our young people when using the hydrotherapy pool by funding resources to increase the multi-sensory nature of a hydrotherapy session at Bettridge.

Please support me in raising funds for FAB which, in turn, makes a huge difference to the educational experiences of Bettridge students.

Thank you for your support!

Sophie
