Brain Tumour Research is the leading voice of the brain tumour community and focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours. We are campaigning to increase the national investment in research to at least £45 million a year and funding sustainable Centres of Excellence across the UK.

Story

Seven family members.

One massive challenge.

One very special reason to keep going...

In 2025, our family lost our much-loved Rob to a Grade 4 Astrocytoma Brain Tumour.

Rob battled his tumour for nearly two years. During that time, he faced not only the effects of the tumour itself, but also difficult cognitive changes following a severe brain haemorrhage.

It was an incredibly tough experience for someone so undeserving— but Rob was so much more than his illness. He was a truly kind and cheerful brother, brother-in-law, son , uncle and cousin - not to mention a hugely popular man in Shropshire and beyond. We think about him and miss him everyday.

So, in true family style, we've decided that sitting still isn't an option for us ...in Rob's name and memory, we plan to complete the London Marathon and raise £20,000 for Brain Tumour Research.

Meet Team Rob! 💪

Our team is made up of Rob's sisters Helen , Sarah Nicola, his younger brother Chris, and his in-laws Ali, Mark and Ed.

And here's the thing…

Apart from Nicola, we're not runners! 😂

We're taking on the challenge of transforming ourselves from non-runners into marathon tryers — and we're going to give it everything we've got.

There will be aching legs, questionable running outfits, plenty of sweat and, we're sure, a fair amount of complaining along the way!

But there will also be laughter, teamwork, memories and a lot of love for Rob.

Every mile we run will be a mile dedicated to him.

🎯 Why £20,000?

Brain tumours can turn a family's world upside down. We know first-hand just how devastating they can be.

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer yet funding to improve outcomes for patients remains critically low.

Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this. It is the only national charity focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours.

That's why we're determined to raise as much as possible for this vital charity

Our target is £20,000+, which feels like a huge number right now — but we're hoping that with the support of our family, friends and everyone who believes in what we're doing, we can get there.

Thank you so much for your donation and support
