Running for Wilson!

York 10K 2025 · 3 August 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
UPDATE!!! Wilson and Ava are now a part of this fundraising page! They have both signed up to the York junior race on the same date and Wilson plans to wheel the whole way himself.
Wilson is getting some new wheels and he’ll be using them to complete his very first race. He will be completing a 2.5k run (or wheel!) alongside his sister. They are both very competitive so this will be a good one - lots of updates will be posted on Wilson’s social media so make sure to follow @willingwilson
I’ve been on 3 short runs and now apparently think I’m a pro athlete.
I’ve even signed up for an actual race - what am I thinking!
Well.. I’m thinking of Wilson. We started fundraising for Wilson when he was just 2 years old so he could have life changing surgery that wasn’t available to him on the NHS. The donations we received were honestly overwhelming and we raised enough for him to have the surgery, along with the much needed therapy and equipment afterwards. It’s helped him massively and I’m not sure how he would be doing right now if it wasn’t for everyone’s generosity in raising all that money.
Fast forward 7 years and we still use these funds for what he needs - how incredible is that!? Wilson is now 9 years old and to say that he was predicted to not be able to do very much at all based on his MRI scan that he had at 1 years old, he’s doing absolutely amazing and I couldn’t be any more proud. He has lots of friends and such a great personality, he genuinely makes me laugh every day. His favourite things are gaming (like most 9 year olds!) and football. His dream is to become the manager for Manchester United one day. Whatever his dreams are in life, I don’t have any doubt he will achieve them.
I’m hoping to raise as much money as I can so he can get the much needed equipment and therapy to help him with anything he needs now and in the future. I’m raising money through the charity Just4Children who hold all money raised and ensure every penny of it is spent on things to help Wilson.
Thank you so much in advance - and please wish me luck, I’ll certainly need it!!
