From Hampstead Heath to the Himalayas – Walking for a Cause
What started as a simple Sunday tradition—Ami and I walking together in Hampstead during lockdown—has led to something far bigger than we ever imagined. Those weekly strolls sparked the decision to take on an extraordinary challenge: trekking to Everest Base Camp in March this year. This adventure has been on my bucket list for years (less so for Ami!), but being the incredible friend she is, she agreed to take on this once-in-a-lifetime journey with me.
We will be hiking for 14 days, starting in Lukla which is at 2860m, up to base camp which is at 5364m. Each day we will hike for up 8/9 hours a day.
Along the way, we discovered Classroom in the Clouds, a charity that builds schools along the Everest Base Camp trek, with a special focus on empowering girls through education. This cause is deeply personal to both of us, and we’re thrilled that we’ll even get to visit some of these schools and witness the real impact of these donations.
We’re covering the full cost of our trip, but we knew that taking on something as physically and mentally challenging as this was the perfect opportunity to do more. To give back. To make this journey about more than just us.
That’s where you come in.
Every donation, big or small, will help build classrooms, provide resources, and change lives. We know this trek will test us, and there will be moments when at least one of us will want to quit (!), but knowing we’re doing this for such an incredible cause will keep us going.
Please give whatever you can—it truly makes a difference.
Have a look at the below video that shows the amazing things this charity does in a very remote part of the world.
