Story

Hi I'm Russell

My business partner for over 15 years, James Ashton, was diagnosed with MND on the day he retired from our food & drink business. He has been battling this incurable disease for 7 years now.

James was born by the sea and has loved being in, on and under the sea all of his life. He is a keen fisherman and loves boating around the coast of Devon.

He has been fortunate to be able to still access the sea in the last few years on his own specially modified boat. This has given him enormous pleasure and so he wanted other MND sufferers and people with disabilities to have the opportunity to get on the water and experience this unique freedom.

James has donated a new boat to the WETWHEELS FOUNDATION to operate in the Torbay area from the Spring of 2024. The boat will be available for people with all types of disabilities to participate in barrier free boating activities.

I'm raising money to ensure that the boat is accessed by the maximum number of people each year.

My challenge is to walk 150 miles, between 8-17th Feb along the south coast in 10 days from Ventnor on the Isle of Wight, where the boat is being built by CHEETAH MARINE, to Torbay Marina from where she will operate. Meanwhile James will be doing his own challenge of static cycling 100 km, the distance from Ventnor to Torbay by Sea.

Many thanks

Russell
