Story
Hello! I’m Ruth Cornish, a former nurse turned massage therapist, living and loving life in Crickhowell in South Wales.
To celebrate turning 60, this year I’m aiming to complete 6 x very different challenges and activities to help raise funds for a local cause close to my heart.
The North Gwent Cardiac Rehabilitation and Aftercare Charity provides a weekly programme of ongoing Cardiac Rehab Exercise Classes for people who have cardiovascular conditions.
My husband John went to classes run by a similar charity in Lancashire following two cardiac events two years ago. Those classes really helped him regain his fitness and confidence so he could get back to enjoying his twin passions: running and cycling.
Now we’re living in Crickhowell, I want to support our local heart charity to help make sure other people can benefit from community-based cardiac rehab exercise classes.
My first fundraiser will be a Pop-up Massage Day at the Wellbeing Room in the Courtyard off Standard Street in Crickhowell. I’ll be offering people the chance to enjoy a relaxing 30-minute massage in return for a donation to the Charity.
I’m qualified in both Deep Tissue and Indian Head Massage, and attuned to Reiki, and I believe my clinical background in nursing supports my work as a massage therapist. My aim with all my clients is to provide healing massage at a pace and pressure to suit their individual needs.
My massage marathon will run from 10am-4pm, with six slots available. To book your massage, please call me on 07861 684142 or DM me on my Rowan Massage Facebook page, and donate* via this page.
My fundraising target for the whole year is £1,000. Watch this space for news of my other fundraisers throughout the year!
*My usual charge for a 1-hour treatment is £55.
