Story
Every Thursday I volunteer with individuals with learning disabilities at the Enable Club in Edinburgh. We chit chat, craft together, play pool and ping pong, play bingo, boardgames and even do some karaoke, and every week it is my favourite day! The people at the club never fail to make me smile and lift my spirits. Because of this I want to give back to the Enable community and charity, for making my weeks that much brighter. The people that Enable support are wonderful people and they deserve fulfilling and lovely experiences and opportunities, and so do all the volunteers and workers that allow Enable to exist!
Enable is a charity that works with individuals with disabilities, helping to support them in a variety of different ways. They work to bring about equal rights for those with disabilities through empowering communities, self directed social care, employment and training opportunities. Here is a little bit about their values and beliefs from their website: 'For us, an equal society means everyone has the right to live in the community of their choice, where they can access their human rights to participate as active and respected citizens through work, friends, and relationships. We believe that an equal society is realised when all of the assets of all individuals are fully utilised.' And you can find out more here: https://www.enable.org.uk/about-us
