Ruth's story
Clare, Laura, Julia, Teresa, Ruth and Jo are running this half marathon as a team to raise money for CoppaFeel. This is a great cause and one that is extremely close to all our hearts.
Here’s Clare’s story:
I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2018 and sadly before completing my treatment the cancer metastasised, so I now live with incurable metastatic TNBC. My prognosis was very poor but thanks to research and new more effective drugs i am still very much alive and living a wonderful life! I have immunotherapy every 4 weeks and I am delighted to say it is working really well for me. There are many women within my family who have had breast cancer, early detection of breast cancer saves lives and knowing your normal and checking your chest from a young age can make all the difference.
I first came across CoppaFeel and its founder Kris Hallenga in 2018. Kris became a complete inspiration to me and although she is sadly no longer with us her legacy lives on. CoppaFeel are on a mission to get every young person checking their chest, knowing their normal, knowing the signs and seeing their GP if they notice any changes.
My friends have chosen to fundraise for CoppaFeel as they have witnessed how a Breast Cancer diagnosis ripples so far beyond the person. I am a great supporter of spreading the word in relation to prevention, chest checking and early detection and obviously delighted that they have chosen to run for Coppafeel!
