Ruth's fundraiser for Landport Community Hub

Christina Ruth O'Keeffe is raising money for Landport Community Hub

Walking the 630 miles of the South West Coast Path in stages

Landport Community Hub was set up by local people for local people. Within our building a number of charities, CICs and social groups operate. We are adding new events, classes and opportunities all the time and our ambition is to own the building outright within the lifetime of the first trustees.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am excited to share with you my personal journey of walking the 630 miles of the South West Coast Path in stages, all in support of the Landport Community Hub.

I have completed 28 sections of the path now, with 42 left to go; I fell in February this year walking from Lulworth Cove to Osmington Mills and broke my right wrist and damaged my back which has left me a very slow walker with a stick - however -despite also now having a diagnosis of osteoporosis - I remain determined to complete the walk. I started walking again at the end of May and completed two sections from Westward Ho! to Bideford and Bideford to Barnstaple, walking the two sections in three parts, each of which took me a whole day because since the accident I am walking at less than a mile an hour!

Landport Community Hub provides vital resources and support, and I hope to be able with your help to raise funds so that the building can be owned outright for the community. This journey is my personal Everest and is likely to take me even longer than I first thought to complete; there are 70 stages listed in the SWCP handbook and I will be able to complete a maximum of 2 on each trip to the West Country.

As I continue on this journey, I am reminded of the importance of coming together as a community to support one another. The Landport Community Hub is a shining example of this, providing a safe and welcoming space for individuals and families in need. By supporting this cause, you can make a real difference to the security of the many groups who call the Hub home, making sure it is always in community hands for them to meet there and provide vital services.

I have set a first fundraising goal of £15,000 with an end target of £150,000 for this campaign. Every donation counts, no matter how big or small. Your contribution will go directly towards supporting the Landport Community Hub and their mission to create positive change in our community.

Please consider making a donation today and join me in supporting this incredible cause. Together, we can make a real impact.
