Something To Look Forward To - Our Charity of Choice for 2024

Living with cancer is challenging enough, physically and mentally with treatments, prognosis and also the financial impact it has. People are affected financially by cancer, perhaps by not being able to work, heating bills may rise due to side effects, so they can not afford to do nice things at a time when they are needed most. This is known as ‘cancer poverty’.
The 'Something To Look Forward To' charity promote the well-being, relieve the stress and aid the recuperation of those who are experiencing the effects of cancer and its treatment, together with their families. In particular by the provision of positive individual and/or family experiences.
Since Ruth was diagnosed with Advanced Bowel Cancer in October 2020, her aim has been to raise awareness of the symptoms of Bowel Cancer, to enable people to understand symptoms and take early action. Early diagnosis of bowel cancer WILL save lives.
"My main tumor caused a blockage in my colon (bowel), which meant I had to go through a life saving emergency operation in January 2021. At that time I hadn't a clue what a stoma was. To enable the removal of the main tumor, my descending colon was taken out with many other bits, and my stoma then created. My surgeon was amazing and I had nearly 2 years with no evidence of decease. However it's back, in the abdomen and now the liver. Cancer can easily be all consuming for the mind for me and my family, having things to look forward to gives a much needed break from the stress and negativity that cancer can bring."
Please help us to raise funds for this much needed charity.
Les and Ruth, supported by their family, will continue to run a number of fundraising events during the year for Something To Look Forward To.
