Story
Since 2017, Robert Walters Group have partnered with Global Angels. Annually we are able to send groups of volunteers to the Global Angels project farm in the Itinyi Valley community in Tsavo.
Our aim is for our volunteers to execute the below goals in September, with the fundraising that we make on this page.
There are two fundraising goals:
1. To build two 'interlocking earth stabilised brick' water tanks. This will store water for the community in times of drought or when there is no access to safe drinking water.
2. To fix a local community member, Angelina's roof and create a guttering system, with an interlocking earth stabilised brick water storage tank. This tank will store enough for her household, her chicken business & her household garden.
The plan:
- We plan to have the volunteers help build the tanks.
- The bricks will be made by local young men, employees at the project farm. Each of these men are currently in a programme with us where they are gaining their certificates for masonry and carpentry work.
- Johness, one of the local employees at the project farm (who is currently supervising the programme mentioned above - under Jackson, the project manager), is currently in Uganda being trained in how to make the water tanks.
- The tanks will be storing water for emergency supplies to the community
