Story
Hey hey! On 8th March 2026 I'm doing my first ever half marathon! The furthest I've ever run before is 18k and that was almost a decade ago. So I figured I could do with some motivation to help get me across that line. So I'm using it as an opportunity to raise funds for Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF)
I have spent a good portion of the last few years feeling pretty damn helpless. It turns out being beamed images of horror and destruction live from war zones across the world direct to your phone and TV will do that to you. Going out running has been a godsend for being able to get out my head and just forget about some of that stuff for a bit. But I would love for my running to actually have done a little bit of good.
MSF do absolutely incredible work in indescribably horrible conditions. They provide relief for the thousands of victims of the genocide in Gaza, the invasion of Ukraine, the crisis in Sudan and so many more desperate situations across the globe. If you want to know why I think they're such a vital charity and find out more about what they do, then I think a really great introduction to their work is these couple of interviews that Adam Buxton did on his podcast: one recently with the UK executive director of MSF, Natalie Roberts, and one a from a couple of years ago with physician Javid Abdelmoneim
