Story
Next week (5th September 2025) marks the 1st year of losing our Bailey.
In Bailey's honor and to keep his memory alive, I will be joining 60,000 inspiring participants in running The Great North Run next Sunday 7th September 2025. The largest 13.1 mile (half marathon route) from Newcastle upon Tyne to South Shields.
Taken from us too soon, Bailey lived every day with Dystonia, which is an incurable neurological movement disorder effecting over 100,000 children and adults in the UK. Over the years, Gem and I have had a personal connection to Dystonia UK charity who helped us understand what is Dystonia, and living with this lifelong, challenging condition in everyday life.
Dystonia presents with uncontrollable muscle spasms triggered by incorrect signals from the brain. It is the 3rd most common movement disorder effecting any region of the body including the eyelids, face, jaw, vocal cords, torso, limbs, hands, and feet. It presents differently depending on the region of the body affected and each type has its own clinical name. This lifelong condition affects both children and adults and currently has no medical cure.
Bailey your memory lives on, and you will always be remembered as a true inspiration.
Forever in our hearts. xx
Go 13!
