Story
This June, I’ll be running the Freckleton Half Marathon in memory of our incredible mum, who we lost last year to amyloidosis.
Amyloidosis is a condition that many people haven’t even heard of until it affects someone they love. It’s difficult to diagnose, and by the time many people find out, it’s already too late. That’s why raising awareness and supporting research is so important, so that more families don’t have to go through what we did.
Grief is heavy. It changes you. Losing her has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever faced but running has become my way of coping. It’s given me moments of peace, strength, and a place to process everything when words just weren’t enough.
Exercise, especially running has genuinely helped carry me through some of my darkest days. And as I train for this half marathon, I’ll be documenting the journey, the highs, the struggles, and everything in between to show how powerful movement can be when you’re going through something tough.
I’ll be raising money for the Amyloidosis Research Charity, to help fund vital research, raise awareness, and support others who find themselves on this same painful path.
