In Memory of Joshua Ryan Hicks

Dear Supporters and Friends,

We at Woody’s Lodge are deeply saddened to announce the loss of one of our own, Joshua Ryan Hicks. With the consent and support of his family, we are setting up this memorial JustGiving Crowdfunder to honor Josh's life and lasting impact.

Born in Truro on August 19, 1991, Josh moved to Barry when he was just six years old. He attended Barry Boys Comprehensive School, and his youthful enthusiasm propelled him to enlist in the army at the age of 16. Originally joining the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME), Josh later transferred to the Queen’s Dragoon Guards. His service record proudly includes a tour in Afghanistan on Operation Herrick 15, marking him as a courageous soldier who stood tall in the face of immense challenges.

But Josh was not only a warrior on the field; he was also a personal trainer who championed the importance of both physical and mental well-being. His uplifting attitude was a source of comfort and inspiration for many, even as he navigated his own mental health challenges. His outstanding contributions to our community were recognized when he was nominated for a veterans award during lockdown.

Those of us who had the honor to know Josh can attest that he was the life of the party, the 'funny guy' whose sense of humor could lift even the most burdened spirits. His sudden departure leaves a void that is both profound and deeply felt.

In tribute to Joshua Ryan Hicks, we invite you to contribute to this Crowdfunder. Your kind donations will go towards initiatives and programs that support veterans, reflecting the values Josh held dear in his life. It is the least we can do to honor a man who has left an indelible imprint on so many lives.
