Ryan's fundraiser for Diabetes UK

London to Paris · 22 September 2023
The challenge is, London to Paris on a road bike in 4 days (22nd September - 25th September), a total of 304 miles. The objective is raise as much money as possible for Diabetes UK whilst accomplishing a great achievement. Before I start, I would like to say a massive thanks to the Godfrey’s and Breaks for letting me join them on this challenge. Diabetes UK is the charity leading the fight against the UK's devastating and fastest growing health crisis.Fewer than one in 10 people in the UK who have diabetes have type 1 diabetes. There is nothing you can do to prevent yourself or others developing type 1 diabetes. If you have type 1 diabetes, your blood sugar is too high because your body can’t make a hormone called insulin. Although it’s often diagnosed in childhood, people can develop type 1 diabetes at any age. You can’t live without insulin injections or using an insulin pump. Checking and managing your blood sugar levels is important to help you reduce your risk of serious short or long-term health problems. There is currently no cure for type 1 diabetes, but Diabetes UK are funding lots of research to help find new treatments and a cure. Over the last 85 years, Diabetes UK research has changed what we know about diabetes and revolutionised treatment for millions of people all over the world. My Sister (Katie) has Type 1 diabetes and I have seen the impact it can have on one’s life. She has done extremely well to manage this chronic disease and whilst funding can improve the livelihoods of people with diabetes through technology etc, the overall objective is to cure Diabetes, this can only be done through research and public funding. This is a personable charity in which your donations would mean a lot to both me and my family.
