Story
In January of this year Ryan was diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome which meant he went from being a typical energetic pocket rocket 6 year old boy to being paralyzed up to his shoulders in less than a week. Luckily GBS is treatable and thanks to the incredible work at Temple Street Hospital, Ryan was given his treatment that stopped the paralysis. Then began the 4 weeks of rehabilitation and learning to walk again.
Whilst in Temple Street Ryan played with volunteers and was given all sorts of games and toys and books to play with that made our stay there not just manageable but in many ways fun. He still remembers our marathon 'Whack a Mole" games!
We all came up with the idea that once Ryan could walk again he would climb Sugar Loaf Mountain with his family and friends to raise money for all the other children in hospitals in Ireland so they too would get to play games and read books with family and with Volunteers.
