Story
Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability in our region, including here in Bolton. Every year, approximately 4,500 people in GM experience a stroke, profoundly impacting their lives and those of their families. As a dedicated team working daily with stroke survivors, we understand the challenges they face on the road to recovery.
In recognition of Stroke Awareness Month this May, our team is taking on a challenge called "Miles in May" to raise funds for Our Bolton NHS Charity and Bolton Stroke Services. We are committed to completing one mile for each person affected by stroke in GM — that’s 4,500 miles collectively. These miles will be covered through various activities such as running, walking, cycling, and swimming.
Physical activity plays a crucial role in maintaining health and wellbeing and is especially vital for stroke survivors. However, engaging in exercise after a stroke can be incredibly difficult without the right support and equipment. Our goal is to raise £1,000 to purchase specialist equipment that will enable more people recovering from strokes to participate safely in physical activities that promote cardiovascular fitness and aid recovery.
We invite you to join us in making a difference by supporting our fundraising efforts. Your contribution will help provide essential resources that empower stroke survivors to live well, improve their wellbeing, and prevent further complications. Together, we can help transform lives — one mile at a time.
