Over the last year, I have been privileged enough to work in the Sheffield for an amazing local charity, Mums In Need, who do amazing work in the local Sheffield and surrounding areas.

Mums In Need's cause is close to my heart, as I know of several individuals close to me, who have had experience with coercive control, and I know that many others could still be suffering in silence.

I'd love to raise some money for this wonderful charity to help them on their journey to support more women, so over the next year I will be doing various fundraising activities.

I would love for my friends and family to get in on the fundraising too, to help me reach my target of £2023 over the year!

Mums In Need is a unique support service for mothers that suffer coercive control after separation from an abusive partner. Coercive control describes a pattern of abuse which can include physical abuse, manipulation, intimidation and threatening behaviour used to terrorise the victim. Many organisations help support escape from domestic abuse, but escape is not the end of the story. An escalation in relentless emotional and psychological abuse is common after separation and is often sustained through shared care with children. We are here to support these mums. We provide each mum with a package of support and a dedicated caseworker who keeps in regular contact and gives them access to practical support such as legal support, 1:1 counselling, wellbeing and therapeutic sessions, and peer sessions.
