Story

I am Walking the Walk for SMEF – Couch to 5K - to raise £5k - to fund programmes tackling health inequality!

In support of Surrey Minority Ethnic Forum, I am taking on the fantastic SMEFathon, a Million-Steps Challenge! And I’ll be doing it my way! I am aiming to complete Couch to 5K. Every Saturday morning, I will be walking and jogging ParkRuns with the aim to complete 5K and raise £5k! I’ll be training too, watch out for short videos, I’ll keep you updated as my times improve.

As Chief Executive of SMEF, I am deeply committed to the work that we do. I am stepping up to the challenge for 3 reasons. Firstly, because I know my parents would have been enthusiastically and wholeheartedly in support of the work I do!

Secondly, for fairer, safer and equitable futures for all. We work with minoritised and ethnic communities to bring sustainable social and economic change that enhances their lives, health and wellbeing, combats hate crime and strengthens bonds between communities for a more integrated county. Our trustees, staff and community members work tirelessly for these goals, I am walking in appreciation for their time and efforts. Every step reminds me that change happens when we walk side by side, lifting each other up and moving forward as one community.

Last, but not least, I hope you join in our community walk and become more active and enjoy the gorgeous green spaces our county offers!

Every step I take will help SMEF deliver vital projects that support people to live healthier, happier lives.

Sponsor my steps today, every pound helps SMEF take another step towards healthier communities.
