Amnesty International UK is movement of ordinary people standing up for humanity and human rights. Some of our campaigns includes refugees, climate change, children's rights, women's rights, and conflict-affected countries. When we unite even the smallest acts of humanity make a difference.

Story

As an advocate for human rights, I’ve stood at peaceful protests, my voice rising alongside others. I’ve donated online, knowing that every dollar contributes to change. But it’s not enough. We need a collective force—a movement fueled by compassion and unwavering commitment.

And Amnesty International does just that.

Amnesty International is a movement of ordinary people from across the world standing up for humanity and human rights. When injustice happens to one person, it happens to us all.

Recent campaigns include refugee and migrant rights, climate change, children's rights, women's rights, Syrian conflict. With their biggest achievements including outlawing torture, holding war criminals to account and controlling the arms trade.

Considering the recent armed conflict between Israel and Palestine, this is the positive impact Amnesty International has had in the ongoing conflict:

1. Apartheid Recognition:

- In 2022, Amnesty International declared that Israel's system of governing Palestinians in Israel and the OPT constitutes apartheid under international law.

- They documented how Palestinians face discrimination, home demolitions, and restrictions on movement, all perpetuating an oppressive regime.

2. War Crimes Documentation:

- During a three-day offensive in August, Israeli forces committed apparent war crimes in the occupied Gaza Strip.

- Amnesty meticulously documented these violations, ensuring that the world knows the truth.

3. Advocacy for Accountability:

- They demand accountability for unlawful killings, torture, and administrative detentions of Palestinians.

- Their reports put pressure on Israel to address human rights abuses.

4. Challenging the Blockade:

- For 15 years, Gaza has endured an illegal blockade, causing immense suffering.

- Amnesty calls for an end to this collective punishment, advocating for humanitarian aid and lifting restrictions.

5. Recognition and Resilience:

- Despite challenges, Palestinians resist. They keep hope alive through cooking and food, preserving their culture and identity.

- Amnesty International amplifies their voices, ensuring their stories are heard.
