Camino Santiago de Compostela

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Over the next 7 days Oliver, Annabel, Sabrina, Nick, Karen and Bryan will be walking 80 km from Ventas de Naron to Santiago de Compostela in aid of Parkinson's UK and the Neurotherapy Centre, Chester. (You can donate to the Neurotherapy Centre under the following link: https://www.neurotherapycentre.org/fundraisers/shuffling-to-santiago-de-compostela-for-neuro-therapy-centre )

Since being diagnosed with Parkinson's, Bryan has been especially grateful for the support from:

- the NHS (regular reviews with medication adjustments, LOUD program);

- Neurotherapy Centre (boxing with Santi, Pilates and the Movers and Shakers Choir); and

- the Chester and District branch of Parkinson's UK (education, research, social gatherings).

It's been one of his life's ambitions to walk part of the Camino to Santiago de Compostela and we're looking forward to sharing in this adventure. He's been training hard over the past 6 months, when you may have spotted him doing his rounds in Kingsley and Delamere Forest, so he's hoping to walk as much as possible of the 80 km with us over the next 7 days! (Originally Bryan was against the idea of sponsorship, as he was pessimistic about how far he might be able to walk, risking the charge of fraud. However, since we arrived in Spain the mood has been very positive and we've managed to persuade him to go for it. Guess we can't ask more of him than to try his best 😉 ... and we're all committed to doing the whole way.)

We'll keep cheering each other on and look forward to being motivated to keep going though your donations 😉

Any donations made here will go 100% to Parkinson's UK, but it would be great if you would also consider the Neurotherapy Centre for a donation under the link provided above.

Both are such great charities and wouldn't it be nice to know that everyone who is diagnosed with Parkinson's can receive the support they need?!
