Story
My name is Sabrina Gallagher, and I've spent over a decade in property lettings and housing in Andover. In that time, I've housed some of the most vulnerable people you could imagine — young people battling substance abuse, mental health crises, and in some of the darkest moments of their lives.
I've seen what happens when people reach rock bottom. I've seen the scars — physical and emotional — that are left behind when someone has nowhere to turn and no one to catch them. It stays with you. And it drives you to do something about it.
So when I recently had the privilege of meeting the team at Yellow Brick Road, I wasn't just impressed — I was moved.
What they are doing for care leavers in Andover is extraordinary. These are young people who have grown up without the safety net most of us take for granted. No parent to call in a crisis. No family home to fall back on. No one to show them how to pay a bill, cook a meal, or simply believe in them.
Yellow Brick Road gives them all of that and more. The love, care, attention, and practical knowledge these young people receive is not just kind — it is genuinely life-changing.
But they don't receive the public funding their work deserves.
Recently, something happened that stopped us in our tracks. An incident that reminded us — sharply and painfully — that social responsibility isn't someone else's job. It belongs to all of us. Every single one of us. Because when we look the other way, real people pay the price.
I want to be upfront with you — I'm not running a marathon. I'm not jumping out of a plane. There's no sponsored walk or dramatic challenge behind this page. We are on the ground, daily, working alongside local teams who give everything they have to these young people — quietly, consistently, and without fanfare.
Please support this cause not because I've walked 10,000 miles to earn it, but because it will mean the world to young people all across this area — and to the volunteers and teams who show up for them every single day.
You don't have to give a lot. Even a small amount, from enough people, adds up to something that genuinely changes lives. Give a little — it will go a long way.
Every pound raised goes directly towards supporting more young people to unpack their struggles, rebuild their confidence, and step into a future they deserve — one that is happy, stable, and full of possibility.
These young people didn't choose the hand they were dealt. But together, we can help change how the story ends.
Please donate. Please share this page. And help Yellow Brick Road keep doing the incredible work that so many young lives depend on.
Thank you. Sabrina Gallagher
