DVLCC supports children under 5 with cerebral palsy and other motor learning impairments through a life-changing, intensive early intervention service. With pioneering therapies to unlock their full potential, our children and their families take the first step toward a brighter future.

Story

In 2025 Remy was born, he's my friend Alex's little boy. He's pretty cool and we love hanging out in the salon!

Remy has Spina Bifida and Dysgenesis of the Corpus Callosum. Spina bifida means 'open spine' and required neurosurgery on day one. DCC means some of the motorways between the right and left sides of his brain may be missing, or have some lanes closed. SB will impact his motor development, ability to walk and continence and DCC will impact his learning & behavoural development.

Remy has been a little trooper through it all and continues to take each day with a smile on his face and raspberry in your ear. Alex is a sole mum by choice and has been navigating medical motherhood alongside postnatal PTSD.

Hands-on help from the Dame Vera Lynn Children's Charity has been invaluable at a time when the mental load of medical motherhood felt too heavy. Remy is just starting out on his journey woth DVLCC but he and Alex are so grateful of their support already.

It is a honour to be able to raise money for a cause so close to us, I am beyond proud of Remy and Alex everyday so any support would be appreciated.

Dame Vera Lynn Children's Charity help under 5's with cerebral palsy and other motor learning impairments make the best possible start in life and give families the support and skills to continue their development at home. Parents and children work together in a supportive environment to improve a child's physical, social and emotional skills through hands on one-to-one and small group sessions. We celebrate the children we work with, no matter their ability, to show parents and the wider world everything they can do.
