Story
One of my best - and unquestionably bravest - buddies, Marcus Evans, was diagnosed with blood cancer 13 years ago. And, in true Marcus style, he still isn’t dead! 😁
In fact, he continues to defy the odds, and long may that continue.
So, to celebrate 13 years of Marcus kicking blood cancer’s butt, an awesome group of 50 of us have got together to take on a challenge throughout September. Between us, we’re aiming to walk 4,313 miles - 43 for Marcus’s age and 13 for the number of years he has been living with blood cancer.
Everyone in the team is setting their own target and, for my part, I’m aiming to walk 100 miles during September.
But this challenge has another very personal meaning for me.
My beloved Dad was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL) 17 years ago. So, with two of the very best fellows I know currently living with - and continuing to kick - blood cancer’s butt, this is a cause that is understandably incredibly close to my heart. ❤️
The Team and I are raising money for Blood Cancer UK, a charity dedicated to beating blood cancer. They fund vital research into better, kinder and more effective treatments, support people living with blood cancer, help people understand and access clinical trials, and work to raise awareness of blood cancer.
September is also Blood Cancer Awareness Month, so there couldn’t be a better time for us to get walking.
100 miles. One month. Two bloody brilliant fellows. 50 teammates. And one very worthwhile cause.
If you are able to support me, I would be enormously grateful. Every donation, however big or small, will help and will be hugely appreciated.
Here’s to Marcus, Dad, and everyone else living with blood cancer. ❤️
Now I’d better get walking…!
