🚴‍♂️ London to Paris in 24 Hours… What Could Possibly Go Wrong? 🇬🇧➡️🇫🇷

2026 marks the 10-year anniversary of LP24 - PLANETS’ iconic 320km ride from London to Paris in just 24 hours.

From 3rd-5th July 2026, I’ll be taking on this epic challenge to help raise vital funds for PLANETS, supporting patients with pancreatic, liver, colorectal, gastric, oesophageal and neuroendocrine cancers.

As a doctor working with patients facing liver, pancreatic and neuroendocrine cancers, I see every day just how important specialist care, research, and support services are for patients and their families. PLANETS does incredible work helping to improve outcomes and experiences for people going through some of the toughest challenges imaginable.

Now, despite being someone whose cycling experience until recently mostly involved “having a bike as a child,” I’ve somehow agreed to cycle 320km from London to Paris in a single day.

To put this into perspective:

* My bike is significantly more prepared for this challenge than I am.

* I currently make concerning noises every time I stand up from a chair.

* My understanding of “carb loading” may become medically irresponsible.

* There is a very real possibility that patients are fitter than me.

Training has already taught me many valuable lessons, including:

1. Padded shorts are not optional.

2. Hills are a personal attack.

3. Google Maps dramatically underestimates emotional damage.

But in all seriousness, I’m doing this because these cancers affect so many lives, and better treatment, research, and patient support genuinely matter. Every donation will help PLANETS continue their vital work supporting patients and advancing care.
