Story

On April 14th I am running my first marathon (Adidas Manchester Marathon) to raise money for children and adults with Williams Syndrome, a disability and a rare genetic disorder which affects my daughter, Florence!

As only 1 in 30 doctors come across Williams Syndrome, the foundation have been the utmost support to us as a family, educating us how to help our daughter physically, mentally and emotionally.

There are so many symptoms and attributes that come with having Williams Syndrome, including heart disorders and delayed cognitive development to name a few.

Whilst I am hoping to raise as much awareness and money for this small grass roots charity as possible, I, MORE IMPORTANTLY, want to address STIGMA and change the perception of disability, in my view it should be seen as unique ability, not disability.

BUT ALAS!! THERE IS NO NEGATIVITY HERE!! I AM GOING TO GET OVER THAT FINISH LINE!!!

My target is 6 x training sessions per week usually done when my children are in bed or before they are home from their childcare.

Your support means more than you can imagine, I promise you 🩷

LET'S GET IT!!!!!

From me, my family and my daughter Florence, and every single person affected by Williams Syndrome,

Thank you so much !!! 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃 X

About the charity

The Williams Syndrome Foundation was formed in 1980 and is run by parents for parents of children with this rare condition which causes heart and kidney problems and learning difficulties. It desperately needs funds to finance its ambitious research and family support programmes which include national conventions and regional meetings.
