Story
Thanks for coming to my page - any donation you can make is really appreciated to get me close to my fundraising target for North Devon Hospice.
I always said I would do a marathon before my 40th birthday, because I want to see if I actually have what it takes to face the toughest challenge of my life, so far. It was therefore a really easy choice for me to do it for a cause so close to my heart and a charity I have the privilege of working for, North Devon Hospice.
In my role, I get to see first hand how someone's life can be flipped upside down by a terminal or life-limiting diagnosis and how that has a ripple effect on their loved ones. Running 26.2 miles is simply a drop in the ocean of what challenges some families have to face.
Some patients we care for are my age or younger and when they have children the same age as my own, it hits a little differently to know they will miss out on so much of their children's future. Life is such a fragile thing which can change at any time, so, while I'm lucky enough to be able to move my body every day and do something some people can only dream of...then I will do it, for them.
Sadly, many people who I have met through my role will never get to see their 40th birthday and so I'm doing this for all those who won't get the chance to.
The money I raise will go towards bringing joy to the final days of people in our care, it will allow them to be comfortable, free from pain and safe when they die. It will mean that their families, including children, will be scooped up and cared for, for as long as they need us.
So, from everyone you will be supporting with your donation, and from me, thank you 💙
