Story
Dementia effects millions of individuals and families, often in deeply and challenging ways. Whether through a loved one, a friend, or simply understanding the widespread impact of this condition, we have seen how devastating it can be - not just for the person living with it, but for everyone around them.
By participating in this event, we want to stand in solidarity with those effected and help improve peoples lives. ~ Safeguarding Admin Team
No person is exempt from Dementia and it can happen to any member of our family. For this reason, I would like to know that I have done my part to help in the creation of a garden that is a safe and happy environment where those affected can have a space that offers tranquillity where treasured memories can be made with family and friends. ~ Andrea
Dementia is widely misunderstood. By participating I can help bring attention to the reality of the condition and reduce stigma. This walk is a way for me to contribute actively - turning compassion into action while promoting understanding, dignity and hope for those facing dementia today and in the future. ~ Emily
The Safeguarding Adults team receive a lot of Deprivation of Liberty applications where the reasoning for many of them is confirmed dementia, to the point where it is considered they are not able to make decisions in their best interests. I want to take part in this walk to support those affected by dementia and their family and friends. ~ Kimberly
Previously working closely with people who live with Dementia has shown me just how difficult it can be to find a place of comfortability and peace. I think the dementia garden could be a wonderful way to bridge this gap, which is why I'm extremely proud to take part in this walk ~ Charlene
