My name is Saffron and I’m hoping to raise some money towards Cancer Research UK by completing a 14,000ft skydive on Tuesday 7th November 2023 at Langar Airfield in Nottingham.

Earlier this year my beautiful, fun, loving mum Lisa was diagnosed with stage 3 bowel cancer, as a family to be told this devastating news which you never think will affect you or your loved ones, it shook our world. It’s extremely hard to not think the worst is going to happen but as a family we tried our hardest to stay positive and support one another through this awful time.

After having her colon removed and receiving 4 rounds of chemotherapy, this life saving treatment has meant she has been given the all clear. My mum now has access to a five year recovery programme that ensures she gets regular check ups and the support to cope with the effects of such a life changing event. Without the support of Cancer Research UK we probably wouldn’t receive the treatment and doctors wouldn’t have the knowledge to help save lives.

Sadly, not everyone has good news, and the statistic that 1 in 2 get cancer in our lifetimes is absolutely terrifying. It’s just too many people and we need to change this.

I want to raise money for Cancer Research UK to ensure people like my mum get the best support possible, and treatment and support to other cancer patients is possible to give them the best chance at life. I want to help towards research into future treatments, preventions and helping towards saving lives.

We as a family are extremely grateful for the treatment my mum has had and the fact that we get to spend many many more years together. We want to give this chance to others Iiving with this awful disease.
